Great book for everyone
Date:May 4, 2013
This is a book that everyone will enjoy and have timeless principles that will work now matter how much time has passed into the future, it provides not only steps that can be followed but also instructions for questions to ask yourself so you don't make the mistake of ruining your dream while chasing it. He doesn't promise that it will be easy or instant but is practical in making the transition and yet provides plenty of humor to drive home the point. The part about NOT quitting your day job right away and instead using it to fund the creation of your dream job and to grow your dream job till your able to live off of your dream financially is only one of many great insights along with how instead of hating your day job you can find ways to like it and use it as practice for your dream. this is a book I read twice, it was that good and recommend to friends and family. Everyone should read this book!!!!

This is a phenomenal book that will change your life. You can choose to be cynical, bitter, or negative. But if you allow it, Quitter will help you on your journey towards your dream job...whatever that may be. This book is packed with wisdom that I'm so grateful Jon Acuff shared with us. God can use the message in Quitter to change you and your family's life for the better. Take a risk and read this book. You will grow from Acuff's insight. You will learn more about yourself. You will be able to start living out your dream.

This book was witty and practical. It helped me see that my dream job is within reach and that really I've already started the process to quitting. Thanks Jon Acuff and the Dave Ramsey team for the encouragement. I would recommend this book to anyone willing to work for a dream.

Great book for anyone who has a vague sense they need a change, or is already in the process of making changes. Including those folks who've already read at least one or a half dozen other "self-help" or motivational texts around a similar theme. It's inspirational, motivational, and grounding - for those times when you've got nothing but doubts going through your head. Plus it's an engaging, easy read.

Just like the author, I found myself being a serial quitter and about to quit again until I read this book. Now I know I'm not ready to quit and I'm trying to put Acuff's quitter wisdom into practice to make sure my dream doesn't die.
The book is insightful, funny and, at times, in your face honest. Jon Acuff doesn't glorify a "quitter lifestyle", instead he brings to the forefront the realities of being a dreamer who quits too soon.
Acuff's wisdom on waiting until the right moment to jump ship isn't just lip service - he's lived it. Jon brings the ups and downs of quitting into better perspective so the dreamer in everyone finds the dock on which to land instead of making a big splash in the water.

Quitter is has hit on points very similar to the ones I came across while agonizing over whether to quit my job to attend school or not. I chose to quit. It is not what the book recommends, but I think it will pay dividends in the end.

A wonderful book. I read it, then gave it to my kids. It reinforces the importance of believing in yourself, setting goals and working hard to achieve them.

This book started out slow for me but I am so thankful that I stuck with it. It talks about me to a tee. I was reading it on a plane and someone sitting next to me asked about it and I was able to share it with him as well as started a conversation about FPU and what that book has done for my family. I plan on reading this book again soon because I miss so much on the first time through. Great book

I've been thinking about a career change and Jon is to career help as Dave is to money management. Every thought, fear, and idea he shares is exactly what I had thought at some point. He puts it all together and makes sense out of it. I feel like I have a plan to finding the work I love!

Jon Acuff hit on so many things I needed to hear. I think the most important idea I got from the book was to nuture my day job while nurturing my dream job. This book has changed my outlook on all of my professional endeavors and has helped me regain passion for the written word. So I will continue to work with my clients as a video producer, while working on my dream - sharing what I have learned having my elderly paretns live with my husband and I and our three sons and geriatric golden retriever. Never a dull moment, and if Quitter helps me help someone laugh, or cope with a similar situation, I will be thrilled. Thanks Jon!

How to Pursue Your Dream Job
Date:July 6, 2012
The book is full of practical advice for people in different phases of their careers. From those who may be close to ready to quit their jobs and pursue their dream job, to those like me who have a way to go and will need time to fall "in like" with their job. It is helpful to see someone young who has already gone through years of the corporate "blahs," but managed to find time to pursue his dream. It gave me the motivation to get in gear and do the same.

I purchased this book on the basis of Jon's video on the Dave Ramsey website. My curiosity was piqued because of (1) my past experience of "being in one job while wishing I was in my dream job," and (2) seeing church members rush from the world of steady employment into the unknown world of entrepreneurship and freelance nirvana. I was pleased with Acuff's recommendations which suggested (1) being appreciative for the job you have, (2) being careful not to steal from your current employer while preparing to leave your employer, (3) making use of your current job to hone skills that you will need in your dream job, and (4) hustling to make your dream job a reality. This is a resource that I will gladly share with friends and acquaintances who want to become "quitters" but need help knowing the right way to "quit" a job for their dream job.

Haven't quite finished the book but am close. I am 55 and in my midlife crisis. I need a fresh start and a new career (I'm retired Navy and currently work for the Postal Service, a job I hate) and I have gained considerable insite from what I have read so for.
Thanks for what you do Dave. We should be debt free in the next year.

This is a game changer for anyone thinking about pursuing their dream job. It defies the traditional way we think about leaving our current job so that we can chase our "Dream Job". It exposes a lot of the pit falls of "Jumping into the deep end of the pool before you learn to swim" mentality. Not only does it expose those pit falls but it also gives you a different path to follow and explains the reasons for doing it differently.

I have not even finished Quitter, but just the first couple of chapters prevented me from making some serious mistakes. It convinced me of the logic of sticking even with a lousy job until I get the dream job. More than once I was ready to walk! Thanks Jon.

We have already quit our jobs, so this was more of an affirmation of what happened and made us realise that we were on track! The humor was unexpected, but right on the mark and refreshing! If we had had the book BEFORE we quit, it would have helped us navigate the waters a little better and helped us know we weren't alone in our journey.
