We have gone to a Dave Ramsey seminar and loved it and even took two of our kids. We decided to teach all four of them with the DVDS and workbooks. We offered the opportunity to some other students after school once a week. We have about 18 kids ranging from 13-19 who are loving this class. The high school juniors and seniors are asking the most questions, but you can tell the younger ones are really understanding it by the comments they say and also by the smart choices they are making.
It is so important that high school students get some information on how to spend and save wisely. It is even better if they start in middle school so they can start saving as soon as possible.

I have a sophomore and senior that I home school. Like every other teen, they are not always excited about their studies. Right now, we are about half way through the video series. They look forward to this subject. After wards, we get into some good discussions about their plans for the future. It excites me that they are thinking ahead and motivated to save money.

I bought this to accompany the homeschool version of Foundations in Personal Finance, which comes with one copy.
As the Teacher/Parent, I always like to get my own copy of the workbook so I can follow along and know what my student is meant to be completing.
This is well worth it.
It has lots of extra info in the sidebars, and charts and is NOT just a case of filling in the blanks.
Also there is a chapter review, and lots of material for discussion.

I am a homeschool/private school teacher. I also work with a financial company. I love educating people about how money works. My biggest passion is teaching young people before they make financial mistakes us adults have.
I am using the DVD course of Foundations in Personal Finance to teach high school students & they LOVE IT!!!
We laugh & have lots to talk about. They get it! Dave has a wonderful way of communicating that not only is understandable but intertaining as well.
I would recommend any & all of Dave Ramsey courses.

My husband and I purchased your home edition of the personal finance student edition since we home school our 6 children. My husband and I went through the whole series along with our oldest 3 children and learned a lot!! This series got us started on a major debt reduction program and we are very thankful for it. We have eliminated over $200, 000 worth of credit card and consumer debt!! We are now on baby step #3. Since going through the series, 2 of our children have gotten married and they have shared what they learned with their spouses- both couples are debt free. We love this series and with our 4th child going through it now we only have 2 more to go!! Thanks for helping our family and our family tree!!

I have been using the student Financial Peace curriculum as part of my senior level Business Math class for several years now. My seniors have this workbook as a great resource to take with them and refer back to as they embark on their life journeys after graduation.

As I am looking at schooling four teenagers and readying them to go out on their own, it became my goal to look for a source to give them "a leg up" regarding the whole topic of money. What an excellent curriculum to use for high school economics! I am teaching this in our homeschool co-op and the students absolutely love it! They are learning so much. It's great how Dave uses teens in the videos, so the students can really relate to what's being taught. I enjoy seeing how excited they get when they discover how their financial choices can affect their whole life! It makes them look at spending and saving in a totally new light. Thank you, Dave, for putting this together for this age group! Wow, what a blessing for these kids! It can really change their life.

I am teaching this class to a group of 6 in our co-op and they love it. My daughter has told me, "Mom, my friends love your class." The program has such great advice that I know will stick with the kids and they will make informed decisions when it comes to their money. I would highly recommend all high schoolers take this course before they leave the nest.

We are using the " Foundations in Personal Finance " in our homeschooling curriculum. This was by far one of the best investments we have ever made to enrich our children's lives. We have thoroughly enjoyed Dave; and he really captures the attention of our teens. We are all learning very valuable information that will not only be beneficial for us , but also with the possibity of helping family and friends with their questions about personal finance. We highly recommend this curriculum to anyone who wants to learn and empower their life.

I have taught this course for our home school tutorial for the past two years. Over Christmas break I ran into one of my Senior students from last year who is now attending college. He couldn't wait to tell me that of all the courses he took in high school, Foundations in Personal Finance was THE MOST APPLICABLE and MOST USEFUL class he ever took. He said he was going to "Live like no one else, so he could live like no one else." Thanks Dave for writing a course specifically for high school students.

My husband and I went through the Financial Peace course provided by his employer. I was a little hesitant at first, and pleasantly suprised that it was not a "get rich quick" scheme, but a common sense program to eliminate debt, invest intelligently and improve your standard of living. Anyone, regardless of income, can succeed with this program. Working with Curriculum in our school gave me the option to bring the program, Foundations-Personal Finance, to our students. Everyone I know that has been through Dave Ramsey's program says, "I wish I'd had this in High School." Now our students can.

I teach this course as a homeschool class for my three teenagers and seven other teenagers who are part of our homeschool group. The material is VERY well received. The workbook is interactive, the DVDs are engaging, and the content is pertinent to this age group! The students really seem to enjoy the humor and the personal application Dave encourages.
From a facilitation standpoint, it's a breeze! All the instructions are provided on how to facilitate. There are tests for each chapter and unit, and there are additional "projects" that you can employ to get more interaction from the class.
When I purchased it, I assumed each chapter would take around 60 minutes. However, I've found that each chapter requires a minimum of 90-minutes to get through the DVD presentation and to have any meaningful discussion. Testing will take an extra 15-20 minutes, and if you want to do everything recommended, plan on at least 2 hours per chapter.
All-in-all, it's a delightful class to teach and the materials provide everything you'll need. It is so rewarding to see the students learning to avoid pitfalls my generation wasn't warned about. I highly recommend this course for grades 10-12, but I'm not sure younger students will comprehend much of it.

My family is part of a charter home study school and was able to use the dvd student series, just needed to purchase the workbook. Absolutely love it- it helps tie in the principles of the dvds and help reinforce the lessons viewed- watching and writing about the lessons helps the students remember, so that they can apply it to their lives. Even though my oldest is in college, we are having all our children learn this important life skill. My husband and I wish we had this learning when we were teens, we would be in a much more stable financial situation. We are starting where we are at! But our children will be prepared!

I first taught this to my son at home during his senior year. It made him feel much more prepared for college and adulthood. I loved it so much I HAD to offer to teach it at my local homeschool co-op. Last year I taught this course to six students and every one of them stated it should be required for graduation. I agree. This year I have the privilege of sharing this vital information with seven students. Considering how pertinent and life-applicable the course content is, I find it extremely easy to present, discuss, test, and grade - both individually at home and in a classroom setting. The teacher's DVD has everything I need to effectively plan and conduct my classes. Dave and Rachel have done an EXCELLENT job putting together an entertaining and contemporary approach to teaching this life-changing material. I highly recommend it to every family who has a high-schooler!
