I bought 3 copies of Total Money Makeover because there are 3 weddings in our extended family this year. I know the book will be one of the best gifts these couples will receive because it will set up a defense against the biggest conflict most marriages ever face. The first couple is already working on an envelope system, the second couple said they are looking forward to reading it and the third couple hasn't received it yet, but I hope they will be excited about the possibilities the book presents. Even better, I bought them when they were on sale for $10 each, so I got all three for a little more than one would ordinarily cost.

I've been following Dave for years and when a young man I hired was asking me if I thought it was a good idea to get a credit card and max it out to get a high credit score I knew he needed some professional help. The weekend after I gave him the TMM he said he read the part about young people spending a thousand dollars on a stereo and he looked over at his $1,300 stereo and thought wow, that's me. He has already changed his ways and has his fiancee doing the same. This guy will be light years ahead of the herd because of Dave's book.

When I purchased the book I was a little worried that it was going to be a bunch of common knowledge that I already knew or could get for free off of the daveramsey.com website. I was wrong. There was a lot of information that really opened my eyes to pitfalls and mistakes as well as wiser ways to handle money. I had began my debt free journey before buying the book without much success. After reading the book I feel much better and actually have a plan to win and not just "winging it" like before. I should be done with step 2 in the plan by February of 2014 which means all my debt is gone but the mortgage. I always handled the money and bills before, now me and my wife work together on our budget together. By working together and agreeing on the budget it takes all the tension out of spending money. I could go on and on but will stop here by saying if you haven't read the book, you should.

I have read Total Money Makeover 2 soon to be 3 times but never owned a copy. My daughter needed hers back, so I went online and got one for myself. Owning it is even better than borrowing it!

I am a wellness coordinator for a large school district, and I have bought 350 copies of Total Money Makeover for my staff, to participate in an email book club. It is, by far, the most popular program that I have run as part of our financial wellness series, and possibly of all the programs I have run. I received so many comments about people whose lives were changed by reading this book, getting on board with getting debt free, and attacking their debt with gazelle-like intensity. I love that it is so easy to read, and has applicable info for everyone.

If you are looking for a way to get started in making better, wiser financial decisions, look no further than this book. If you're tired of wondering where your money went, if you can't figure out why you can't afford things everyone else can afford, if you don't understand how you can make a good salary and not get ahead - this book is for you. Warning: it won't be enough to just understand the principles in this book. You will have to apply them. But watch and see how much more clearly you will understand your finances and spending habits. Make some changes and see a huge difference in your life. If you're stumped, get wisdom. Apply the wisdom in this book. You'll never regret it!

With regards to financial advice, The Total Money Makeover is the best book ever written besides the Bible. We've been on the plan for 8 years, and later this month will be totally debt free including the house. Finally. We wish we had had this book earlier in life, so now we give it to all new grads, newlyweds, and new parents. Thank you so much.

Awesome!! I bought a few books for friends and family to help get them gazelle intense and they loved it! I have the book on CD because I drive so far to work and personally I think it's better than the book because Dave is reading it :) As I pass up my favorite store I pop in the CD and keep on driving! I can't wait to pay off our house! Then we can build our wealth and give, save and spend like crazy!! Thank you Dave!!!

Because of your radio show my husband and I were already working the plan. We became debt free except the house 1 year ago. I read the book this year and bought 2 books, 1 for each of my adult children.
My husband wanted to retire 1 1/2 years ago. After following the principles you teach he was able to retire this year. We would not have been able to do this without sticking to the plan, because I was not convinced we had enough of a cushion to take this big step. The book just reinforced everything you say on the radio program. It also helps that you have given real- life stories. Anyone reading the book can find a situation that is similar to theirs. My husband has been retired now for 1 month and he tells everyone it's "Thanks to Dave Ramsey."
We started teaching this to our grandchildren last year. They were 7 and 6 at that time. They loved the childrens books. My grandaughter really thinks about how she will spend her money. She is also very generous with her little brother.

I am personally still working on applying the SEVEN steps in this book. The number one step of getting an emergency fund started has saved me several times! I've purchased this book several times to give as a gift ... the last time I gave it as a wedding gift and put a $50 bill in the chapter about starting a BEF!

I bought several of these books as graduation/wedding/baby presents because I hope someday that our culture recognizes these principals again and that people will be able to take control of their lives by understanding money better and not having it be something they cannot or choose not to understand. The people I have given these to already have been very excited and I think they are great gifts for anyone!

Very easy to understand and follow.
I think it is very important to share this information to young people starting out before they develop bad money habits and have to pay "stupid tax".
Therefore I have been buying ten of these books at a time and giving them away to young people!
