Great Product for Kids!
Date: February 16, 2010
We began using Financial Peace, Jr. for Kids with our 3 and 5 year old children soon after Christmas 2009. They already get it! We have been diligent at involving them in conversations about money and they already understand that our money is limited; therefore, the activities and products we choose to spend it on must be carefully thought about while weighing the consequences of choosing to spend it on other things. They both LOVE putting money in the GIVE envelope for church each week. They LOVE seeing the balance in their savings accounts go up when the teller comes to their school each month to accept deposits. Of course, they LOVE spending some too but I guarantee that their choices are different now after using this product than they were before we implemented its use in our home!

Great Homeschool Tool

I am so thankful for this product. I use it in homeschool to teach our seven year old daughter. We also purchased the Kid's Super Pack to supplement learning. Now she NEVER complains when I tell her something she wants is not in the budget! She has also started to turn her little nose up at credit card commercials!

My two boys, ages 6 and 8, really got excited about figuring out what they wanted to save for and when they could buy it. It got them motivated about doing their chores without a hassle.

For Older Kids

I have a four year old who had a serious case of the "gimmies". I thought it would be helpful to have her earn money for things she wanted. I love Dave Ramsay's plan and saw the recommended age on this product was 3-12. When we received the product (plus a book about Chores), my daughter was excited to get started. It was soon apparent, though, that this is for much older children. The chart is hard for my daughter to keep up with and the envelopes don't allow her to see her money grow (preschool age children are very visual). The book is too wordy and complex for her attention span. Although I think this kit would be GREAT for children around 8 or older, I am disappointed in it for the 3-6 or 7 year old. When you are trying to be financially responsible, it is hard to feel like you wasted money on a product.

Financial Peace Jr is very helpful in teaching my little ones the true value of money and how to handle it. It will allow them to be smarter with money than I ever was thus "changing our family tree". Thank you, Dave.

We have been enjoying the kit since Christmas and I have seen a definite change especially in me, my 6 yr old, and the order in my home. I am no longer a nag...you do your chores, you get commission. If not, you're fined. My 4 yr old has had a harder time in seeing the benefits of it, but watching his big sister's excitement reinforces him. I am encouraged to watch my children build a healthy financial foundation. They will have freedoms that I am just getting at 30...isn't this what it's all about! Thanks Ramsey family!

A friend recommended this to us and I am so glad that we listened. It has truly revolutionized our children in more than one way. Not only are they excited about saving their money and distributing it in their envelopes, they have been helping more and most importantly, they have been doing it with happy hearts. Our children are 7, 5, and 3, and even the three year old is excited about it and doing her chores. They wake up every morning and do their "family" jobs which is not for commission, but ask us all through the day for service opportunities. It has also helped my husband and I to be more dilligent in giving them their commission and we realize that they are watching us as we use our envelopes. It has truly been one of the most positive changes in our family and I feel confident that we are giving our children valuable tools for their futures. Thank you for your work and for this amazing tool.

(I am on my way out of it now that I have had FPU!!!! I would reccommend it to EVERYBODY!!!) I hope to keep my kids from making the same mistakes I did and this is getting them on the right track!!!!!!

We have been using the Financial Peace Jr kit with our 4 and 6 year old and we have seen an amazing increase in their motivation and willingness to pitch in on the "over-and-above" chores. This is such a great tool to teach kids about responsibility and work and how to handle money. Our girls love using their "money jars" that Dave recommends and the envelope system breaks it down so that they know exactly what they have to save, spend, and give. Love it, love it!

My kids are both working hard to save their money now. It has helped them not let all their money burn a hole in their pocket! They still have a percentage of their money that they can spend whenever, but at least now a lot more of it is going into saving for a big item!

I bought this for my nephews for christmas. I was not sure how well it would be received as my brother is a CPA. He said the program was awesome and his kids are loving it. Way to go Dave. I have a new grandson and am looking forward to putting him thru Financial Peace Jr and walking with him all the way.

The program has really helped us teach our 5 year old responsibility and goal setting. He now makes his bed every morning, puts away his toys every night without being asked and even puts away his own laundry each week. When he helps do something big like sweep and mop the kitchen and he earns extra commission it all goes right into the saving jar. His first thing to save for is really expensive but every week he loves seeing how much closer he is getting!
We actually have to direct him to keep some money out to spend or else it would all go into saving and giving. He is such a sweet caring boy but we want to make sure he has fun with money too!
Thank you for a wonderful program!

Good product that is simple for a youngster to understand. My 10 year old was excited to get some REAL Dave Ramsey envelopes (we had been using plain white envelopes). We don't use the calculator much, mainly because he is so involved w/ math @ school and we want him to be able to work a simple math problem out. Have not put the savings/forfeiture chart into use yet, but plan to start when more assigned duties/responsibilities are given.

Purchased 2 kits for my 12 and 7 year old sons. Incredible results so far... my boys have been very independent at completing their responsibilities in order to get paid for work done. They have soon realized that no work done equals no pay, just like the real world! They are so motivated because they see their money growing each week! They've already saved enough money in less than 2 months to each achieve their first savings goal. Also, my boys are proud to put their OWN money into the collection basket at Mass on Sunday. My wife and I are convinced this has had an impact in helping our boys learn responsibility and financial accountability. Thanks for the tools!

I had taken the Financial Peace Course years ago to help find the money to finish a second international adoption. It changed my life and I continue to find new ways to apply the info.
I gave each of my children one of these for Christmas. We have been using this system for a few years but the actually boards and envelopes made it more fun for the children. They have reached a few of their goals so far. And they have decided to change their goals after seeing more of where their money was going.
